Audio from former JOY elder Dwayne Wilkerson on Sunday morning August 27th, 2017.
A note from Pastor Vaughn:
This morning we are honoring Dwayne and Lynn Wilkerson. Selfishly sad, I have to accept the fact that they are moving to Chattanooga Tennessee to be close to their grandkids.
Dwayne and Lynn came to JOY many years ago with a passion to see God glorified in and through their lives. They hit the ground running, expressing love and encouragement that has been faithfully poured out on the Church body, week after week. Dwayne served our Church faithfully as an Elder for many years. I have experienced first hand, his wonderful encouraging words and love, from numerous text, phone calls, meetings, and his faithful Sunday morning phone call followed by a brief moment in my office before services where he'd always pray for me and for our time in the Word. Through those moments, God knitted our hearts tightly together and I have grown to greatly lean on his anointed, wise, uplifting, and compassionate words.
Most days my first phone call of the morning is from Dwayne with this simple, heartfelt opening line: "Hey there my Pastor, I just want to tell you, I love you." What an encourager... This love and encouragement has not just been a gift to me, but to our entire Church family. We have grown stronger, been greatly blessed and benefited through having them in our lives. I thank God for His outpouring of love through this precious couple.
I look forward to seeing what God is up to as He leads them into and through this new season. Join me this morning as we express our gratitude for their service. Let's pray today and then continue to pray for them as they move, connect to a new Church body and get settled in to their new home.
